Idefix
Idefix, is a stunningly beautiful young dog overflowing with sweetness and affection. He absolutely loves human interaction and cherishes every cuddle he receives.
He loves going out on walks! He’s great on the lead and doesn’t seem bothered by people, other dogs, or cars passing by. Idefix is always happy to stop for some cuddles and treats along the way. Unfortunately, he doesn’t go out very often due to the lack of volunteers. So, he spends more than 23 hours a day in a tiny cage.
Despite the company of other dogs on the pound patio, there’s a hint of sadness in his eyes. Idefix longs for a loving home where he can find love and security. Time is of the essence for him as he eagerly awaits the day, he can leave the pound behind and start a new chapter in his life.
November 2024: Idefix in foster
Idefix has been in foster care for the past two weeks due to the pound flooding, and he will be returning to the pound tomorrow. Here’s an update from his foster family:
At home, Idefix has been doing really well. At first, he was very tired and a little subdued, but with lots of love, he quickly warmed up. He now actively seeks affection and loves to climb on you for cuddles. He’s initially calm, but since we have three other dogs, one of them really bonded with him, and they often play non-stop.
He’s been left alone several times and hasn’t broken anything, he is not completely house trained yet.
Idefix is great with kids and has no issues with cats—he just approaches them to sniff, but doesn’t try to engage further. He’s a very sociable dog overall, although he doesn’t like very intense dogs. He tries to communicate in his own way, asking them to relax.
He’s been in the car and van a few times and is always standing, but travels without any problem.
When it comes to walks, he occasionally pulls a little. Also, he’s still afraid of water. We took him to the beach, and he ran away a bit scared of the waves! 😅
Overall, Idefix is a sweet, loving dog who is still adjusting, but he’s making great progress. He’ll be ready for his forever home soon!
Idefix is available for adoption in the UK. Homecheck and adoption fee apply. Adoption fee includes neutering, passport, microchip, all vaccinations, blood tests to screen for diseases, worm and flea treatment. Adoption cost in Spain (if no transport required) 155€ for males and €165 for females.
Adoption costs to the UK are £570. This includes all DEFRA paperwork and transport by DEFRA registered carrier ( using the TRACES system) direct to your door, except London, within the M25 motorway, Highlands of Scotland beyond Perth, and all off islands (if we cannot deliver direct, a mutually convenient meeting place will be arranged). We sort out all the arrangements and delivery/ meeting times will be advised in advance by the transporter.
For dogs brought to the UK by SSDUK to go initially into foster care, adopters will still be required to pay the full adoption fee of £570 to cover the above expenses.
In some cases, for example a failed adoption of a dog already in the UK, the fee may be reduced to £320 where the initial transport costs from Spain have already been met. This is to cover transport within the UK, kennel fees and any checks required.
