MONTY – A VERY GOOD BOY
Monty was found limping on the track as his back legs were injured. It seems that he may have been hit by a car. He was in the patio with the other dogs and seemed to manage ok with his injury but he has since been operated on and is making a full recovery. He was a little bullied by the other dogs when he was in his patio, probably because they picked up on his weakness. H is a little timid around people he doesn’t know at first but once he knows you he is very loving. He has been recovering in the office where his confidence has been building. If something bothers him he goes behind you and sticks his head between your legs. He is a really sweet dog.
Monty arrived at Los Barrios pound in September 2019 and was about 12 months old on arrival. He is a gorgeous cross breed that was found presumably abandoned in the streets and brought to the pound. April 2020: In March Monty was lucky to go to a foster home, as he was struggling at the pound. The foster family told us this about him after a month of being in foster. Monty started off a bit shaky (he was especially nervous around the man) and he was scared of lots of things outside, but he is better now and will now do his business on his morning walk. He has never had any accidents in the night, and if the door is open to the terrace, he will go on that rather than in the house, so I’d say he’s pretty well house trained. He has even whined a couple of times to be let out on the terrace for a pee. At the moment, because of the quarantine, he isn’t alone very much. However, before the quarantine started, he was left alone while they were both at work and they never came home to any problems. He was also fine with the cat while left alone. He loves going for a walk and loves other dogs. He is very playful, especially with the cat, and after playing he loves to cuddle up with his foster mom and sleep. Update on Monty from his foster family July 2020: Monty is now house trained and can be left alone. He is also really good when we take him to bars with us, he lays down and gets lots of attention which he loves. He still can be a bit timid with men, but he now loves me (his foster mum) and is perfectly fine with me. He is still scared of some things, but Monty faces his demons and gets past them, he doesn’t stay in fear of them. There were lots of men on our walks that he didn’t use to let near him, but he now plays with them and barks a little, but no fear aggression, just playful barking. The cat is his best friend and the cat even goes with us on walks. Monty has learnt to sit on cue very quickly, he is very easy to train and he is a smart boy.
We are looking for a home for Monty which is close or within driving distance to his foster home in Manilva.
