Asterix
Asterix is a young boy, not even a year old on arrival, and sadly, he has already experienced abandonment, ending up in a crowded pound. Despite his tough start, Asterix is doing well. He shares a cage with a female dog and gets along just fine with her.
He enjoys going for walks and is doing well on the lead. This lovable boy truly deserves a home where he can finally feel the warmth and love that he has never known. Asterix is ready for a fresh start, and we hope he finds his perfect family soon!
OCTOBER 2024:
Asterix recently enjoyed some time in foster care with his friend Orca, but now he’s back at the pound, waiting in a small cage for a family to call his own. His foster family had only wonderful things to say about him:
A Handsome Boy with a Big Heart: Asterix has a gorgeous, glossy black coat that shines, and he adores being stroked and praised. He has an endearing, playful side and loves to explore new things, often looking to his friend Orca for guidance.
Brave and Protective: Though he’s young, Asterix is a courageous boy who steps in to protect his people if he senses something unusual. He walks beautifully on the lead and is full of energy – running and playing are some of his favorite activities.
A Grateful and Gentle Soul: Asterix loves his food and is a happy, grateful eater. Once he’s comfortable with you, he’ll roll onto his back, eagerly waiting for tummy rubs. Human connection means a lot to him, and he warms up quickly to new friends.
Curious Around Other Animals: During his foster stay, Asterix grew increasingly curious about farm animals like horses, donkeys, and goats. Rather than feeling afraid, he became interested in them, showing his adaptable and open-minded spirit.
Update March 2025
Four weeks ago, Asterix went into foster care due to the risk of flooding at the pound. He returned to the same foster home he stayed in last autumn, and this time, his foster carer shares the following about him:
Asterix is an active, playful, and bouncy young boy with a handsome look and a big heart. He loves to run and enjoys playing with chew toys. Naturally curious, he is always eager to explore his surroundings.
He adores his friend Orca and follows her lead. He’s an energetic dog who thrives on playtime and companionship. When walking on his own with his foster, he does well on the lead, responding best to someone who provides confidence and gentle reinforcement. His foster has taken him for solo walks in the finca fields, where he is calm and curious, sniffing and discovering new things. However, when he’s with Orca, his excitement takes over, and he just wants to run and play—so some additional lead training could be helpful.
Asterix is a happy, loving dog who always wants to give kisses and cuddles. He enjoys his food and eats well, even coming to say “thank you” after finishing his bowl.
Sometimes, his enthusiasm makes it difficult for him to focus, as he gets overly excited about spending time with people. When that happens, his foster gently calms him down by holding and stroking him—he loves to sit on her feet, looking absolutely adorable!
While Asterix is gaining confidence, he can still be startled by new things (for example, he was convinced a satellite dish was out to get him!). In those moments, he needs calm reassurance and gentle guidance, as he can become reactive and scared.
Asterix is a wonderful dog with so much love to give—he just needs the right guidance and a chance to continue building his confidence.
Asterix is returning to the pound after 4 weeks in foster.
Asterix is a joyful, affectionate dog who is ready to give his heart to a forever family. Could you be the one to give Asterix the love and home he deserves? Come meet him – he’s eager to start his new life with you!
