Candy
Candy is timid with people, she will hide in a kennel, but once in a while her pretty little head pops out of the dog house – especially if you have treats 😉 then she will come up to you to have a sniff and some treats. She is great with the other dogs at the pound. She would probably be best in a home with another friendly dog, that can help her get more confidence.
Candy went into foster due to the pound flooded in March. Her foster mum tells us: “She’s doing very well!!! She hasn’t barked at all so far. She adapts great and very quickly, I think she’ll progress a lot, today she finally peed and did 2 poops on the street. She walks quite well, but she gets scared of cars.
My dogs does 80% of the work, with them everything is much easier for her, when she’s with them she’s much less scared than when she’s alone.
She’s very funny because she steals all the shoes in the house and takes them to her bed 🙈 Luckily, she doesn’t bite. But if you don’t leave shoes out, she doesn’t touch anything.
She’s very happy and it’s really satisfying to see how she’s improving. She really is progressing very quickly, she’s scared but she’s overcoming it very well!!”
Candy is available for adoption in the UK. Homecheck and adoption fee apply. Adoption fee includes neutering, passport, microchip, all vaccinations, blood tests to screen for diseases, worm and flea treatment. Adoption cost in Spain (if no transport required) 155€ for males and €165 for females.
Adoption costs to the UK are £570. This includes all DEFRA paperwork and transport by DEFRA registered carrier ( using the TRACES system) direct to your door, except London, within the M25 motorway, Highlands of Scotland beyond Perth, and all off islands (if we cannot deliver direct, a mutually convenient meeting place will be arranged). We sort out all the arrangements and delivery/ meeting times will be advised in advance by the transporter.
For dogs brought to the UK by SSDUK to go initially into foster care, adopters will still be required to pay the full adoption fee of £570 to cover the above expenses.
In some cases, for example a failed adoption of a dog already in the UK, the fee may be reduced to £320 where the initial transport costs from Spain have already been met. This is to cover transport within the UK, kennel fees and any checks required.
