CASSIE – ALREADY IN THE UK – URGENT FOSTER NEEDED

Cassie is coming back to us due to unforseen circumstances and her adopter is very sad to have to let her go. Can you offer this gorgeous girl a long term foster home? After 7 years in a home we do not want Cassie to go to kennels, can you help?

Cassie is a beautiful black Labrador x Alsatian. She is 8/9 years old (but not 100% sure). She is a large dog, she weights 31kg and she is 60cm tall. She is neutered, has microchip and it is up to date with vaccines and diparasite treatment. She doesn’t have any health issues at all. She has a bit of a delicate tummy but is fine on her present raw diet. She eats Nature’s Menu, she loves tripe, beef and turkey, but she won’t touch it if it has chicken in it. She also loves her treats.

She knows lots of commands, she sits, lay down, wait, stay, give paw, dead, weave, stand, jumps and stop. She sits and waits when you put food down until you say “eat”. She has done agility and she has won a couple of competitions in small pet events. She is ok with other animals when she gets to know them but doesnt like them to be in her face when out on a walk. She will never go to attack another animal but she doesn’t like them disturbing her if she is sleeping and will snap. If they respect her boundaries she is fine and she can be very playful.

She is a very lovable dog, she loves cuddles on the sofa and lying in the sun in the garden until you have to tell her off as she gets too hot. She doesn’t like any toys at all, she sometimes will grab a toy and throw it in the air but that is the extent of her interaction. She is very good to be groomed, she needs to be brushed very often as she moults a lot. She will lay down in front of you and enjoy the brushing and the pampering.

She is good on walks, she won’t pull on the lead and she has very good recall off the lead. She is very lazy and nervous, and doesn’t appreciate long walks. She can be nervous around men and is afraid of anyone carrying a stick or umberella. She doesn’t like water and will avoid even puddles when she is out and about. She is good staying alone at home for periods, she just sleeps. No separation anxiety or anything at all, and she will keep clean untll you return home. She is terrified of fireworks. She can be worried around new people, above all men and needs careful and gentle introductions. She definitely is a worrier and gets very anxious with everything. She doesn’t like it if you raise your voice and sometimes she still flinches if she thinks you are angry.

She is unsure around children and doesnt like quick and unexpected movements we would therefore be looking for an adult only home with no children regularly visiting. Everyone that meets her loves her, she is a soppy creature and all she wants is love, nothing else.

She has never lived with a cat, and will chase them out of her garden, but on walks she generally ignores them.

Do you have an Cassie sized hole in your life, she would be your best friend 🧡 For more information please email us at: Adoptions@spanishstraydogs.org.uk Cassie is available for adoption in the UK. Homecheck and adoption fee apply.

This gorgeous dog is available for adoption in the UK. Homecheck and adoption fee apply. Adoption fee includes neutering, passport, microchip, all vaccinations, blood tests to screen for diseases, worm and flea treatment. Adoption cost in Spain (if no transport required) 155€ for males and €165 for females.

Adoption costs to the UK are £570. This includes all DEFRA paperwork and transport by DEFRA registered carrier ( using the TRACES system) direct to your door, except London, within the M25 motorway, Highlands of Scotland beyond Perth, and all off islands (if we cannot deliver direct, a mutually convenient meeting place will be arranged). We sort out all the arrangements and delivery/ meeting times will be advised in advance by the transporter.

For dogs brought to the UK by SSDUK to go initially into foster care, adopters will still be required to pay the full adoption fee of £570 to cover the above expenses.

In some cases, for example a failed adoption of a dog already in the UK, the fee may be reduced to £320 where the initial transport costs from Spain have already been met. This is to cover transport within the UK, kennel fees and any checks required.
