CHAI – ALREADY IN THE U.K. (LINCOLNSHIRE)

Sadly Chai has been returned to us. Chai was adopted with another SSD in 2019. She is a large female crossbreed, 2.5 years old, possibly part Mastin breed. Her adopters say she is a lovely dog, a gentle giant, but she simply did not get on with one of their other dogs which caused tension in the pack. Her adopters have worked with a behaviourist in the hope that Chai’s issues with the other dog can be overcome but sadly this has not worked, so they have no option but to rehome her.

Her adopters say that she has never been aggressive with any other dog (apart from the dog mentioned above) and was part of a regular dog walking group which included a variety of different dogs of all shapes and sizes and again she got on well with all of them. Chai has completed her Kennel Club Good Citizen Bronze award and was the most laid back dog in the group. They say she is a really lovely dog, very affectionate and good at doggy day care. She is also quite independent and often takes herself off to sit under a tree in the garden or simply stretch out to sun bathe. She will sit, offer a paw and come back when asked. She can be excitable and loves to play with other dogs. Chai loves a tummy rub and will often sleep on her back with her legs in the air.

Her adopters were very sorry to have to give her up and hope that someone will snap her up – they say she is lovely and deserves to live in a home where she can feel relaxed.   They also are very sad at the fact that she will have to be parted from Rio who she came from Spain with. They hope it may be possible to bring Rio to meet up with Chai sometime in the future so they can still retain their friendship once she has been adopted.

Since being in kennels, poor Chai has had to have an operation to remove one of her toes.  A lovely vet nurse has been looking after her while she convalesces.  Chai has behaved beautifully and got along with the other dogs in the home and really enjoys their company.

Given the above, we believe Chai will be best suited to a home in a rural location with plenty of space for her to run around, preferably with a male dog for company or another female dog (following a successful introduction). Chai definitely seems to prefer this to being on her own.
