Cheddar

Cheddar is a gorgeous young Mastín. At just two years old, this stunning boy is full of sweetness and love. He adores being around people and has a gentle, affectionate nature that makes him truly special.

Sadly, Cheddar’s current life is far from ideal. He spends over 23 hours a day alone in a tiny cage, with only brief moments of freedom. When he does get a chance to stretch his legs, he happily shares the patio with another Mastín, showing his calm and easygoing personality.

Cheddar loves his rare walks, which have become the highlight of his life. Living in such a small space, with only 10–20 minutes of patio time daily, makes these walks incredibly meaningful for him. Unfortunately, due to the lack of volunteers, they don’t happen often. But when they do, Cheddar is amazing on the lead—calmly walking, sniffing, and enjoying the little bit of freedom he craves. He’s unfazed by people, cars, or other dogs passing by, simply soaking in the joy of being outside.

Unfortunately, with so many Mastíns at the pound right now, we worry that Cheddar might be overlooked. Finding homes for these big, gentle giants can be challenging, as they need a bit of space to thrive. But those who welcome a Mastín into their lives know how loving, loyal, and calm they can be.

Cheddar deserves more than this life of confinement. He needs a family who can give him the space, care, and love he longs for. Let’s help this sweet boy find the forever home he so desperately needs.

Cheddar is available for adoption in the UK. Homecheck and adoption fee apply. Adoption fee includes neutering, passport, microchip, all vaccinations, blood tests to screen for diseases, worm and flea treatment. Adoption cost in Spain (if no transport required) 155€ for males and €165 for females.

Adoption costs to the UK are £570. This includes all DEFRA paperwork and transport by DEFRA registered carrier ( using the TRACES system) direct to your door, except London, within the M25 motorway, Highlands of Scotland beyond Perth, and all off islands (if we cannot deliver direct, a mutually convenient meeting place will be arranged). We sort out all the arrangements and delivery/ meeting times will be advised in advance by the transporter.

For dogs brought to the UK by SSDUK to go initially into foster care, adopters will still be required to pay the full adoption fee of £570 to cover the above expenses.

In some cases, for example a failed adoption of a dog already in the UK, the fee may be reduced to £320 where the initial transport costs from Spain have already been met. This is to cover transport within the UK, kennel fees and any checks required.
