MAY (WAS CHLOE) – THE GIRL OF YOUR DREAMS
May is a beautiful young dog, both inside and out. She was found, in Spain, by her foster dad and stayed with him while she waited for her forever home. She was in foster with an adult female dog, a similar size to her and also 2 smaller males. She liked to sunbathe with the cat from next door. She is a friendly, cuddly, sociable girl who you can’t help falling in love with. She would like a home with other dogs and also a family who will give her plenty of exercise. Great for an active family looking for a friend to share their outdoor adventures with.
May was adopted and brought to the UK last summer, but is sadly been returned to us, through no fault of her ow. Her adopters have told us this about her:
‘She is a lovely and affectionate girl on her own terms; so careful and gentle when she takes a treat. Will cuddle up to us when we are sat down and insist on a stroke. Picks up tricks and commands really quickly, too. Like all the Spanish strays she loves being outside in the sun, stretched out on the deck and rolling over to make sure she bakes evenly.
Very excitable and can be quite rough on her toys. Anything that claims to be chew proof will last at best a few days with her! She always wants to play tug or chase a squeaky ball, but she will resource guard new or favourite toys.
She’s very social and wants to make friends with everyone but is reactive on lead as a result. She could do with living with a slightly older dog whose good behaviour she can copy but also gives her a play buddy. She’s also excited to chase small animals so couldn’t live with cats.

May is available for adoption in the UK. Homecheck and adoption fee apply. Adoption fee includes neutering, passport, microchip, all vaccinations, blood tests to screen for diseases, worm and flea treatment. Adoption cost in Spain (if no transport required) 155€ for males and €165 for females.
Adoption costs to the UK £570, this includes all DEFRA paperwork and transport by DEFRA registered carrier(using the TRACES system) by road direct to your door. We sort all the arrangements for you. For dogs brought to the UK by SSDUK to go on foster, adopters will still be required to pay the full adoption fee of £570 to cover the above expenses.
In some cases, for example a failed adoption of a dog already in the UK, the fee may be reduced to £320 where the initial transport costs from Spain have already been met. This is to cover transport within the UK, kennel fees and any checks required.
