Elfo

Poor Elfo… he was so unhappy to be left behind by his owner at the chaotic pound, he was crying the first couple of days in his cage. He has now found some new doggie friends, but surely he would preferer a loving home with a warm comfy bed. He likes going out on walks and is good on the lead.

We hope he does not have to wait long for a new family to love him…

December 2022: Elfo went into foster last week due to the risk of the pound flooded.

His foster family tells us: Everything is going well. Elfo is great in the house; he knows to do his business outside, you can bathe him and dry him without a problem, and he follows us everywhere and sleeps next to our bed. We think he may have a bit of separation anxiety because he cries, barks and scratches at the door if we leave him alone. This is understandable for a dog that was abandoned by his owner and left at the pound 😢

He is good on a walk, fine with dogs that pass by, however, he will pull on the lead if he sees a cyclist. He is wonderful with children and allows them to pet and cuddle him. He is very affectionate with both adults and kids. We are going to visit my mother this week who has 3 cats so we will see how he gets on with them…

He is perfect in the car, he just gets in and doesn’t move, he loves it. He doesn’t seem to know his name Elfo, no matter how many different ways I say it he doesn’t respond to the name, but it isn’t a problem since my guardian rarely leaves my side 🥰

Elfo is available for adoption in the UK. Homecheck and adoption fee apply. Adoption fee includes neutering, passport, microchip, all vaccinations, blood tests to screen for diseases, worm and flea treatment. Adoption cost in Spain (if no transport required) 155€ for males and €165 for females. Adoption costs to the UK £520, this includes all DEFRA paperwork and transport by DEFRA registered carrier(using the TRACES system) by road direct to your door. We sort all the arrangements for you.  For dogs brought to the UK by SSDUK to go on foster, adopters will still be required to pay the full adoption fee of £520 to cover the above expenses.

In some cases, for example a failed adoption of a dog already in the UK, the fee may be reduced to £320 where the initial transport costs from Spain have already been met. This is to cover transport within the UK, kennel fees and any checks required.
