Excalibur – a beautiful boy looking for peace and love 🐾
Excalibur is a gorgeous dog who arrived at the pound at about five years old. He has only just recently come to us, so we are still getting to know him, but already we can see what a gentle and good-natured boy he is.

Excalibur is a little nervous and fearful at first, but once he feels safe, he enjoys a walk and gets on well with other dogs. He is showing us his calm and friendly side more and more each day.

Right now, poor Excalibur is settling into the chaotic pound, living in a tiny cage surrounded by constant barking and unfamiliar people. It is no life for such a sensitive and beautiful soul.

At the beginning of November, Excalibur was fortunate to spend a couple of weeks in foster care due to the heavy rain. His foster family shared some lovely insights about him. “They describe him as a very calm and extremely gentle dog. He allowed himself to be bathed without any issues, even if his facial expression suggested it was not his favourite activity.

Excalibur is progressing well and gaining confidence day by day. As for cats, he has not had close encounters, so we cannot say for certain how he would react. However, he is generally very relaxed and submissive with other dogs. At home he spends most of his time quietly resting on his bed, without seeking play or showing much indoor energy.”

Update – November 2025 🌟
“Excalibur was chosen to attend an event together with a few of the other dogs from the pound. As he is a slightly timid boy, he didn’t seem to enjoy it as much as the others. It was a bit too much for him and at times a little overwhelming.
Even so, he did very well. He handled everything with his gentle nature and tried his best in every moment. Excalibur is a very sweet, sensitive dog who simply needs a calm and loving home where he can feel safe and grow in confidence.”

Excalibur truly deserves a loving home where he can feel safe, relax, and finally experience the kindness and comfort he longs for. Please help us give him the chance of a better life.

This gorgeous dog is available for adoption in the UK. Homecheck and adoption fee apply. Adoption fee includes neutering, passport, microchip, all vaccinations, blood tests to screen for diseases, worm and flea treatment. Adoption cost in Spain (if no transport required) 155€ for males and €165 for females.

Adoption costs to the UK are £570. This includes all DEFRA paperwork and transport by DEFRA registered carrier ( using the TRACES system) direct to your door, except London, within the M25 motorway, Highlands of Scotland beyond Perth, and all off islands (if we cannot deliver direct, a mutually convenient meeting place will be arranged). We sort out all the arrangements and delivery/ meeting times will be advised in advance by the transporter.

For dogs brought to the UK by SSDUK to go initially into foster care, adopters will still be required to pay the full adoption fee of £570 to cover the above expenses.

In some cases, for example a failed adoption of a dog already in the UK, the fee may be reduced to £320 where the initial transport costs from Spain have already been met. This is to cover transport within the UK, kennel fees and any checks required.
