Brothers looking for new home/homes

Harry (mostly white) and Bertie (Black & White) are approximately 5 years old,  Dalmatian cross Pointer brothers who have not had the best of times recently.

Due to a marital breakup, they were left at the family home alone with someone attending daily to feed them for 6 months. The boys were then handed over to a pound in Spain. Understandably due to being on their own for 6 months and having lived with a family from pups they did not take well to living in the pound environment.  They have been moved to private kennels in January of this year and are settling into the routine there.

Harry and Bertie are calm dogs, Harry being the boss is the calmer of the two. They walk well on the lead but can be scared by other larger dogs. They have lived with an older child in their past home, so dog savvy children over 12 years would be best.

Both boys have had little interaction with other dogs, so cannot be homed with large male dogs but may be ok with a smaller calm female. Harry and Bertie would be suited to a semi-rural/rural home with a large garden, so they have plenty of space to run around.

They are around 65/70cms in height and 32kgs.  They will need patient and understanding adopters that are willing to give them the time they need to adjust to a new life and home after all the upheaval in their lives over the past year.  They are bonded and ideally it would be lovely if they could be homed together, but as we know this is a big ask, separate adoptions will be considered.

Adoption costs have been reduced to £400 for each dog, to cover transport.   If you can offer either Harry or Bertie a loving home, please contact adoptions@spanishstraydogs.org.uk

Harry and Bertie are available for adoption in the UK. Homecheck and adoption fee apply. Adoption fee includes neutering, passport, microchip, all vaccinations, blood tests to screen for diseases, worm and flea treatment. Adoption cost in Spain (if no transport required) 155€ for males and €165 for females.

Adoption costs to the UK are £570. This includes all DEFRA paperwork and transport by DEFRA registered carrier ( using the TRACES system) direct to your door, except London, within the M25 motorway, Highlands of Scotland beyond Perth, and all off islands (if we cannot deliver direct, a mutually convenient meeting place will be arranged). We sort out all the arrangements and delivery/ meeting times will be advised in advance by the transporter.

For dogs brought to the UK by SSDUK to go initially into foster care, adopters will still be required to pay the full adoption fee of £570 to cover the above expenses.

In some cases, for example a failed adoption of a dog already in the UK, the fee may be reduced to £320 where the initial transport costs from Spain have already been met. This is to cover transport within the UK, kennel fees and any checks required.
