Marie Curie – A Soul Full of Love Waiting for Her Chance

Marie Curie has spent almost two heartbreaking years in the pound, enduring life in a tiny, cold, and damp cage. Two long years without a family to love her, without a warm bed to call her own. Despite her circumstances, this beautiful young girl has an incredible spirit that refuses to be broken.

When Marie first arrived, she was timid and unsure, overwhelmed by the chaos of barking dogs and the constant movement around her. But time has revealed her true nature – a loving, affectionate, and resilient soul who craves companionship. Now, there’s no sign of the wary girl she once was. Today, she greets the sight of a leash with near-somersaults of joy, eager for those precious moments outside her cage.

Marie Curie is a dream to walk. She is great on the lead, unbothered by passing people, dogs, cars, donkeys, or even cats. In fact, she loves to pause and share her treats with the street cats she encounters, showing her gentle and kind heart. She adores cuddles and playtime, her face lighting up when someone gives her the love and attention she so desperately deserves.

But life in the pound is taking its toll on her. The damp, cold floor of her cage has recently caused her painful paw problems, making even her cherished walks difficult. There were days when the pain kept her from walking at all – a stark reminder of the suffering she endures in this harsh environment.

Marie Curie spends more than 23 hours a day alone in her cage, longing for the warmth and comfort of a family. She has so much love to give, but no one to give it to. Please, don’t let her wait any longer.

If you can’t meet Marie Curie in person, please know she’s an incredible girl with so much love to give. She’s been waiting far too long for someone to open their heart and home to her. Could that someone be you?

FEBRUARY 2025:
🐾 A Special Day Out with Max and Marie Curie 🐾
Today we want to share a beautiful yet bittersweet story about two amazing dogs, Max and Marie Curie. These sweet souls had a wonderful adventure in Los Barrios yesterday, escorted by two experienced volunteers.
Despite spending most of their days confined to small cages, Max and Marie Curie showed just how resilient and adaptable they are. The moment the car door opened, they hopped in like seasoned travelers! You’d never guess these dogs weren’t used to regular car rides – they were absolute naturals.
Walking through Los Barrios was a joy to watch. These precious pups took to the busy streets like they’d been city dogs all their lives. Traffic? No problem. Crowds? They handled it all with incredible grace. They even paused occasionally for cuddles, treats, and short breaks, showing their sweet, affectionate nature.
True, they pulled a bit on their leashes at first – but who could blame them? When you spend 23 hours a day in a tiny cage, the world is just too exciting to contain your enthusiasm! As the walk went on, they settled into a nicer rhythm, surprising everyone with their good behavior.
The hardest part of the day was the return journey. While they jumped back into the car like pros, saying goodbye and watching them return to their cages was heartbreaking. Though they were reluctant to go back, their wonderful behavior during this outing proves what amazing pets they could be in loving forever homes.
Max and Marie Curie showed us all that despite their difficult circumstances, their spirits remain bright and their hearts full of love. They deserve so much more than their current life in those small cages.
