Obelix
Sweet Obelix is an affectionate big puppy who adores people and enjoys playing with other dogs. He embodies all the qualities of an ideal puppy, but he finds himself in need of a loving home.
Obelix arrived at the pound when he was just 6 months old, and now, he is approaching a heartbreaking milestone—soon, he will have spent half his young life in a cage. For every day he remains at the pound, it becomes harder to find him a home. As a big, black dog, he faces even more challenges in finding a loving family, as these traits unfortunately make him less likely to be adopted.
It’s simply not fair for Obelix to grow up in a place like the pound. He needs a loving home where he can thrive and enjoy the joys of puppyhood. Obelix is a sweet and affectionate boy who deserves a chance to experience a happy, fulfilling life outside the confines of the pound. Could you be the one to offer Obelix the loving home he so desperately needs?
November 2024: Obelix had a brief foster experience this week due to the heavy rain, where we got to know more about his personality. He will soon return to the pound. Here’s what we learned about him:
Obelix is a very sociable dog who enjoys the company of both other dogs and people, although he shows some fear towards men, something he’ll need to work on with patience. He is not compatible with cats, so he needs a cat-free home.
At home, he is a calm and relaxed dog who enjoys company. He’s still learning his house training habits, as he doesn’t yet do all his business outside. He is okay if left alone for a short while, but like many dogs in adaptation, he may chew on things if left alone for too long, though not excessively – his foster family is working on this with appropriate toys like a Kong.
He shows some fear of appliances like fans and vacuum cleaners, though not in an extreme way.
Despite these small challenges, Obelix is a very obedient dog who deserves a family that can provide him with the love, patience, and stability he needs. Could you be the one to give him a chance at a better life?
Obelix is available for adoption in the UK. Homecheck and adoption fee apply. Adoption fee includes neutering, passport, microchip, all vaccinations, blood tests to screen for diseases, worm and flea treatment. Adoption cost in Spain (if no transport required) 155€ for males and €165 for females.
Adoption costs to the UK are £570. This includes all DEFRA paperwork and transport by DEFRA registered carrier ( using the TRACES system) direct to your door, except London, within the M25 motorway, Highlands of Scotland beyond Perth, and all off islands (if we cannot deliver direct, a mutually convenient meeting place will be arranged). We sort out all the arrangements and delivery/ meeting times will be advised in advance by the transporter.
For dogs brought to the UK by SSDUK to go initially into foster care, adopters will still be required to pay the full adoption fee of £570 to cover the above expenses.
In some cases, for example a failed adoption of a dog already in the UK, the fee may be reduced to £320 where the initial transport costs from Spain have already been met. This is to cover transport within the UK, kennel fees and any checks required.
