Orca

Beautiful Orca… Orca is a sweet, affectionate, and intelligent Border Collie mix who loves playing with her ball and gets along with other dogs, she is currently sharing her cage with another male. Although she was a little shy with people when she first arrived, Orca has blossomed into a confident and sociable dog, ready to form a deep bond with a loving family.

Orca would thrive in an active home where she can enjoy regular activities and mental stimulation to balance her energy. She is eager to learn and would do wonderfully in an environment where she can bond with and engage with her family.

While Orca loves going on walks, she could benefit from some lead training. She isn’t bothered by cars, people, or horses. However, when dogs pass by on the narrow road close to the pound, the proximity can sometimes make her bark, which could be due to stress. When there is more space between her and other dogs, she remains calm.

Unfortunately, Orca spends more than 23 hours a day in a small cage, which has caused her significant stress. Being a Border Collie mix, she needs more physical and mental activity than she currently receives. She rarely gets taken for walks due to the lack of volunteers and is only let out onto the patio for 15–20 minutes a day. Her current living conditions are affecting her well-being, and she desperately needs a home where she can have the space, care, and attention she deserves.

Orca is a wonderful dog full of potential, just waiting for the right family to give her a chance. Could you be the one to give her the life she dreams of?

From Her Foster Family:
“In November, Orca spent a few days in foster care with her furry friend Asterix during flooding at the pound. Despite the short stay, her foster family described her as loving, sensitive, and incredibly intelligent. She walks beautifully on a lead, is always eager to learn, and thrives on affection and companionship. Orca also showed calm curiosity around farm animals like horses and goats, highlighting her adaptable and gentle nature.”

Orca has spent over six months waiting patiently in a small cage, hoping for someone to recognize the incredible dog she is. Could you be the one to give her the home she so deeply deserves?

Orca is available for adoption in the UK. Homecheck and adoption fee apply. Adoption fee includes neutering, passport, microchip, all vaccinations, blood tests to screen for diseases, worm and flea treatment. Adoption cost in Spain (if no transport required) 155€ for males and €165 for females.

Adoption costs to the UK are £570. This includes all DEFRA paperwork and transport by DEFRA registered carrier ( using the TRACES system) direct to your door, except London, within the M25 motorway, Highlands of Scotland beyond Perth, and all off islands (if we cannot deliver direct, a mutually convenient meeting place will be arranged). We sort out all the arrangements and delivery/ meeting times will be advised in advance by the transporter.

For dogs brought to the UK by SSDUK to go initially into foster care, adopters will still be required to pay the full adoption fee of £570 to cover the above expenses.

In some cases, for example a failed adoption of a dog already in the UK, the fee may be reduced to £320 where the initial transport costs from Spain have already been met. This is to cover transport within the UK, kennel fees and any checks required.
