Tristan – A Friendly Boy Still Waiting for His Chance

Tristan arrived at the pound in April 2025 at around 2 years old, together with Bosco. The two boys still share a cage and get along well, and that familiar companionship seems to give Tristan a little comfort in an otherwise very difficult environment.

Tristan is a sociable, good-natured dog who genuinely enjoys being around people. He loves going out for walks and is a pleasure to walk, moving beautifully on the lead. He copes well with the world around him and takes everything in his stride. Whether it’s passing cars on the quiet gravel roads near the pound, people, donkeys, or even cats, Tristan takes it all in without much fuss.

During walks, he is very attentive to the person walking him. He enjoys pausing for little training exercises, gentle mental stimulation, and sniffing in the grass, showing a lovely willingness to engage and connect. He has also been out on walks with a child and did very well.

At the pound, Tristan has shared his cage with a number of different dogs over time, both male and female. Many of those dogs have since been adopted and moved on to their new lives, while Tristan remains behind, still waiting for his own turn. He currently shares his space with Bosco and gets along well with the dogs around him.

During their short daily break on the patio, Tristan enjoys moving around, exploring, and interacting with the other dogs. Those brief moments outside the cage clearly mean a lot to him.

In May 2026, Tristan and Bosco attended one of our big adoption events at the new land where we hope to build our future shelter. The two boys shared a pen for the entire afternoon, together with a dedicated volunteer who spent time sitting with them, giving them attention, affection, and calm company throughout the day.

Tristan did brilliantly. He greeted visitors entering the pen in a gentle, friendly way and clearly enjoyed every bit of attention and interaction. Both boys were calm, affectionate, and incredibly sweet throughout the event. By the end of the day, they were completely exhausted, lying flat on the ground after hours of socialising and soaking up affection.

Sadly, despite how wonderfully they both behaved, nobody fell in love with Tristan or Bosco that day, and they had to return once again to their small, damp cage at the pound.

With people, Tristan is open, affectionate, and enjoys being included in whatever is going on. He is the kind of dog who is simply happy to be part of your day.

But life in a cage is still his reality. Day after day, he waits. A young dog like Tristan should be discovering the world, enjoying adventures, learning new things, and coming home to the comfort of his own family. Instead, he is spending his days behind bars, watching time pass by.

Tristan is a wonderful boy in a very difficult place. After all this time, what he needs most is someone to choose him — someone to give him the chance to finally leave the pound behind and start the life he deserves. 🐾❤️

This gorgeous dog is available for adoption in the UK. Homecheck and adoption fee apply. Adoption fee includes neutering, passport, microchip, all vaccinations, blood tests to screen for diseases, worm and flea treatment. Adoption cost in Spain (if no transport required) 155€ for males and €165 for females.

Adoption costs to the UK are £595. This includes all DEFRA paperwork and transport by DEFRA registered carrier ( using the TRACES system) direct to your door, except London, within the M25 motorway, Highlands of Scotland beyond Perth, and all off islands (if we cannot deliver direct, a mutually convenient meeting place will be arranged). We sort out all the arrangements and delivery/ meeting times will be advised in advance by the transporter.

For dogs brought to the UK by SSDUK to go initially into foster care, adopters will still be required to pay the full adoption fee of £595 to cover the above expenses.

In some cases, for example a failed adoption of a dog already in the UK, the fee may be reduced to £350 where the initial transport costs from Spain have already been met. This is to cover transport within the UK, kennel fees and any checks required.
