Virgy

This beautiful Shepherd cross is about 3 years old and has recently arrived at the pound. She has already shown herself to be great with other dogs and is calm and friendly with people. Virgy isn’t hyperactive, which makes her an easy companion to be around. As we continue to get to know her over the coming weeks, we are confident she will reveal more of her sweet and gentle nature. We’re excited to find her a loving home where she can truly thrive. Could it be with you?

Update – March 2025:
Virgy moved into a foster home last week after the pound was flooded due to heavy rain. Her foster family has shared some wonderful insights about her behavior in a home setting.
She is incredibly well-behaved indoors and fully house-trained, with no accidents at all. She gets on well with the other dog in the home. She doesn’t chew furniture or shoes and can be left alone for short periods without barking or causing any disruption. She also walks beautifully on the lead without pulling and enjoys her daily outings.
When it comes to car travel, Virgy can sometimes get travel sick. However, her foster family manages this by ensuring she hasn’t eaten at least two hours before traveling and taking regular breaks. Recently, she completed a 1.5-hour journey in a motorhome and did very well, showing that she is adjusting with practice.
Virgy is curious about cats when she sees them on walks. If they remain still, she eventually loses interest. She is also alert when spotting another dog, with her ears forward and tail up, however, she doesn’t growl or show any aggression. When introduced properly, she greets calmly, though she prefers to avoid overly excitable dogs.
She is exceptionally friendly and gentle with all people, including children. In cafes, restaurants, and shops, she is wonderfully behaved, walking calmly and settling down when her foster family stops to eat.
Virgy is proving to be a fantastic companion, and we hope this update helps her find a loving forever home soon.

This gorgeous dog is available for adoption in the UK. Homecheck and adoption fee apply. Adoption fee includes neutering, passport, microchip, all vaccinations, blood tests to screen for diseases, worm and flea treatment. Adoption cost in Spain (if no transport required) 155€ for males and €165 for females.

Adoption costs to the UK are £570. This includes all DEFRA paperwork and transport by DEFRA registered carrier ( using the TRACES system) direct to your door, except London, within the M25 motorway, Highlands of Scotland beyond Perth, and all off islands (if we cannot deliver direct, a mutually convenient meeting place will be arranged). We sort out all the arrangements and delivery/ meeting times will be advised in advance by the transporter.

For dogs brought to the UK by SSDUK to go initially into foster care, adopters will still be required to pay the full adoption fee of £570 to cover the above expenses.

In some cases, for example a failed adoption of a dog already in the UK, the fee may be reduced to £320 where the initial transport costs from Spain have already been met. This is to cover transport within the UK, kennel fees and any checks required.
