Bailey – Needs a Home – Already in the UK

Sadly Bailey’s owner in Spain has had to go into care and he was brought to the U.K. on foster with his best friend Charlie. Sadly Charlie passed away recently after being in the U.K. for only 5 weeks. Bailey misses him very much. Bailey is only 1 1/2 years old, he hasn’t had much training but he has a sweet nature. He’s also used to living with cats.

This is what his fosterer says about him: ‘Bailey has struggled being on his own since Charlie passed away. He can be reactive with other dogs. He’s mainly ok with my dog Chloe, but there have been a few spats over beds and the odd crumb of food found on the floor. I’m working on his reactivity when out on walks – he’s not keen on big dogs. He walks well after a few minutes when he’s calmed down. Bailey definitely needs company and is good when you’re in the house with him. He’s also been in my office at work with no problems, however he does get up to mischief when left on his own, whether counter surfing or emptying bins! Not a chewer, but does like to rip up cardboard. He’s clean in the house. He would be fantastic at agility or flyball. He has good recall and has been very well behaved when visiting my mother in the care home so he may be suitable to become a PAT dog.

Hopefully a permanent home can be found for him. This would mean the world to his owner in Spain and give her the comfort she needs being away from her beloved dog. If you would be interested in adopting Bailey then please email our Adoptions Team via: Adoptions@spanishstraydogs.org.uk

Bailey is available for adoption in the UK.  Homecheck and adoption fee apply. Adoption fee includes neutering, passport, microchip, all vaccinations, blood tests to screen for diseases, worm and flea treatment. Adoption cost in Spain (if no transport required) 155€ for males and €165 for females.

Adoption costs to the UK £520, this includes all DEFRA paperwork and transport by DEFRA registered carrier(using the TRACES system) by road direct to your door. We sort all the arrangements for you.  For dogs brought to the UK by SSDUK to go on foster, adopters will still be required to pay the full adoption fee of £520 to cover the above expenses.

In some cases, for example a failed adoption of a dog already in the UK, the fee may be reduced to £320 where the initial transport costs from Spain have already been met. This is to cover transport within the UK, kennel fees and any checks required.
