Ramses
Ramses arrived with his brother, but he was adopted quickly, but luckily Ramses has found a new best friend – the handsome Edgar. The two big young boys live together in a small cage at the pound. It is hard to see them behind the bars for more then 23 hours a day. They need more space, they love to play and fool around. Ramses is a big boy, but inside he is still just a baby. He is always so happy and loves when he is taken out for a walk with his friend.
In December 2022 Edgar and Ramses went into foster together because the pound flooded.
Their foster parents tells us after two months:
“We have been lucky enough to have fostered Edgar and Ramses since December, so 8 weeks now.
Both these handsome, beautiful creatures have lived together since September 2022 and are the best of buddies but have quite different personalities.
Edgar (black), the larger of the two greets all friends new and old by jumping up and trying to get their attention. However, he quickly calms down but needs a lot of reassurance. He is quite strong willed but wants to be involved with everything we do. Ramses (white/tan), the younger of the two, is much more placid and extremely affectionate. Edgar is frightened of the Beaches and the Sea but both enjoy a walk in the country – see Photos and Video.
We have tried everything to organise our lives to keep them both with us permanently but our work schedule, often 12 hour days and travelling back and forth to the UK, sometimes for several months at a time, has made this impossible.
We dread them having to go back into kennels and desperately need a permanent home for both of them. Preferably to separate homes, where they can bond with their new families and begin to develop properly their own right.”
March 2023: Ramses and Edgar are now back at the pound, and they are sharing a cage. During the day they go out for a playtime with lots of other dogs in the patio. It seems to be a bit too much for Ramses and it looks like he is trying to make himself invisible, walking along the walls. He has a sweet nature, he loves people and good cuddles, he really needs a home of his own, away from the noisy crowded pound. He would love a fenced garden where he can play and relax in the sun.
Ramses is available for adoption in the UK. Homecheck and adoption fee apply. Adoption fee includes neutering, passport, microchip, all vaccinations, blood tests to screen for diseases, worm and flea treatment.
Adoption cost in Spain (if no transport required) 155€ for males and €165 for females.
Adoption costs to the UK £570, this includes all DEFRA paperwork and transport by DEFRA registered carrier(using the TRACES system) by road direct to your door. We sort all the arrangements for you. For dogs brought to the UK by SSDUK to go on foster, adopters will still be required to pay the full adoption fee of £570 to cover the above expenses.
In some cases, for example a failed adoption of a dog already in the UK, the fee may be reduced to £320 where the initial transport costs from Spain have already been met. This is to cover transport within the UK, kennel fees and any checks required.
