Wolfie – A Stunning Young Dog Looking for Love

We are looking for an adopter for this handsome boy. Wolfie is a young male crossbreed with a striking appearance and an even more beautiful heart. He has settled well with his foster family and they have done a lot of work with him.

July 20205 – Update:

This is what Wolfie’s UK foster family says:

Wolfie is a big softie at heart and has settled in really well with us, he’s a pleasure to have around the house. Wolfie is very sociable with people and loves to play with other dogs. He is very good at assessing old Vs young dogs, being very gentle with the oldies and bouncier and more playful with the young ones.

Although we don’t have children, he’s been very friendly to children in my wider family and others we’ve met. In the 3 months we’ve had him, we’ve taken him to various places and tried to give him lots of experiences, from country shows, moorland walks, pub visits and he’s very good when we’re in our campervan!

In terms of training, he’s very good at sitting and can do downs and wait for short time periods! We’re working on his recall which is a weaker area; he’s progressing on the long line with high value treats but he is very prey/scent driven so can be easily distracted. When we have experimented with letting him off the lead, he has been known to disappear for ~15/20minutes, does come back eventually but of his own accord. He travels very well in cars and we have left him in the house for up to 3 hours on occasion with no damage. When he first arrived, he did used to steal a few spice jars (!) onto his bed shortly after we left but never any proper damage and this soon stopped. In terms of exercise, we have generally been walking him morning and afternoon on the lead totalling around 1hrs 30mins a day. We have also been running with him with a belt and have got up to 5miles which is excellent for his physical stimulation, but he also loves and needs to work his brain to be rested and satisfied with his day. He’s not a huge fan of the water yet but will paddle a little and is growing in confidence.

Wolfie would be a fabulous dog for a more experienced dog owner with plenty of space to run and play. His new owner would need to continue the recall training in particular. He loves playing with his toys in the garden!

Please contact adoptions@spanishstraydogs.org.uk if you can help Wolfie find the forever home he urgently needs.

March 2025 – Update:

Wolf moved into a foster home in Spain last week with four other dogs after the pound was flooded due to heavy rain. His foster family has shared some heartwarming insights about his sweet personality and behavior.

Wolf is an extremely loving and sweet teenager. He walks beautifully on the leash, following perfectly without pulling. He already knows simple cues like sit and paw, and he almost never barks—if he does, it’s with a very soft voice.

He is super friendly with all other dogs, whether male or female, large or small. Wolf loves every kind of attention, making him a very social and affectionate companion.

For an active owner, Wolf would be the perfect match. His loving nature and willingness to engage make him a wonderful addition to any home, especially one that enjoys staying active and giving him plenty of love and attention.

This gorgeous dog is available for adoption in the UK. Homecheck and adoption fee apply. Adoption fee includes neutering, passport, microchip, all vaccinations, blood tests to screen for diseases, worm and flea treatment. Adoption cost in Spain (if no transport required) 155€ for males and €165 for females.

Adoption costs to the UK are £570. This includes all DEFRA paperwork and transport by DEFRA registered carrier ( using the TRACES system) direct to your door, except London, within the M25 motorway, Highlands of Scotland beyond Perth, and all off islands (if we cannot deliver direct, a mutually convenient meeting place will be arranged). We sort out all the arrangements and delivery/ meeting times will be advised in advance by the transporter.

For dogs brought to the UK by SSDUK to go initially into foster care, adopters will still be required to pay the full adoption fee of £570 to cover the above expenses.

In some cases, for example a failed adoption of a dog already in the UK, the fee may be reduced to £320 where the initial transport costs from Spain have already been met. This is to cover transport within the UK, kennel fees and any checks required.
