Bavaria – a calm, loving girl hoping for a safe and warm home…

Bavaria arrived at the Pound in November, estimated to be around eight years old. From the very first day, she showed what a truly sweet and gentle dog she is. Bavaria is calm, affectionate, and spends much of her time curled up in her bed, quietly watching the world from inside her cage.

She arrived in very poor condition. Her collar was embedded into her skin, a clear sign that she had suffered neglect before reaching safety. Despite whatever she may have endured, Bavaria remains a kind and trusting soul.

The winter months are extremely hard on her. The cages are cold and humid, with no indoor shelter, and dogs like Bavaria struggle to stay warm and dry. She does not deserve to live in a tiny cage under these harsh conditions.

This wonderful girl truly deserves a loving family who will give her comfort, care, and the peaceful home she has been missing for so long. Bavaria has a gentle heart and is ready to share it with the people who welcome her into their lives.

Update – January 2026:
Bavaria went into foster care due to heavy rainfall and the risk of flooding at the pound. She has now been in foster for a week and can stay a few more days, but will likely need to return to the pound soon.

According to her foster, Bavaria is 8 years old and appears to be in very good health. She is people-oriented but never pushy, and can easily be left home alone as she does not bark or howl. Occasionally she may whimper quietly, but she settles down quickly and falls asleep. She became house-trained after just one day and learns very quickly.

Her foster explains that she is calm and somewhat relaxed, walks comfortably on a lead, and does not require long or strenuous walks. Bavaria does not need a home with a garden or a high-activity lifestyle. Despite her size, she would be well-suited to senior citizens or anyone looking for a gentle, low-maintenance companion. She enjoys lying in her spot, dreaming, or quietly visiting family members for cuddles. She is extremely easy to care for and truly a low-maintenance, unobtrusive dog. With a little patience and calmness, even a beginner dog owner could care for her.

Bavaria’s foster also shares that she is reserved but friendly with strangers and other animals. She has had no contact with cats so far. Her interactions with other dogs have been limited due to being on the lead, though she has shown interest in approaching them. At the foster home, the resident female dog was initially jealous and fearful, but both dogs are gradually learning to respect each other.

She has not had direct contact with children in foster care, but her foster believes that children who behave sensibly should pose no problem. Bavaria travels quietly in the car and has adapted well to new experiences, including riding in a lift. Occasionally she may need gentle encouragement to try something new, but she always succeeds with a little patience.

Overall, according to her foster, Bavaria is a quiet, gentle, and affectionate dog who would thrive in a calm and loving home. She is easygoing, loving, and truly a wonderful companion for anyone looking for a relaxed, low-maintenance dog.
