Astra

Astra arrived at the pound in January 2026 and is estimated to be around 7 years old. She is a sweet, loving girl who enjoys human company and happily leans in for a good cuddle whenever she gets the chance.

Astra currently shares a cage with a male dog, and they are doing well together. She is friendly with people and clearly values affection and reassurance, responding warmly to gentle attention.

Like so many dogs at the pound, Astra finds life in a cage very difficult. Spending most of the day locked in is understandably hard for her, and she is always eager to step out whenever the opportunity arises. It is clear that she longs for freedom, comfort, and a calmer environment where she can relax and feel secure.

Astra is a kind-hearted girl who deserves the chance to leave pound life behind and start a new chapter in a loving home. We truly hope she won’t have to wait too long to find her forever family.

UPDATE – January 2026

A few weeks after her arrival, Astra was moved into a foster home due to the risk of flooding at the pound caused by heavy rain and strong winds. She is truly enjoying the warmth, comfort, and safety of a loving home.

Her foster describes her as amazing — super gentle, calm, and wonderful with children. Astra is an incredibly loving soul with endless trust in people. She is very affectionate, loves cuddles, and happily seeks closeness. She would never show aggression and truly has the sweetest nature.

With other dogs, Astra is playful yet polite, tending to be more submissive than dominant. She settled into her foster home very quickly and has shown herself to be attentive and protective of the home without being noisy.

Astra is smart and learns quickly with kind, consistent guidance. She walks beautifully on the lead, rarely barks, and is fully house-trained. She can stay home alone or rest calmly in the car without any problems — she simply relaxes until you return.

She is a happy, fit girl who fits naturally into family life and gives back endless love, loyalty, and trust.

Her foster stay is only temporary, and Astra is still in need of her forever home where she can be loved and cherished for life. We truly hope she won’t have to wait too long to find her family.

This gorgeous dog is available for adoption in the UK. Homecheck and adoption fee apply. Adoption fee includes neutering, passport, microchip, all vaccinations, blood tests to screen for diseases, worm and flea treatment. Adoption cost in Spain (if no transport required) 155€ for males and €165 for females.

Adoption costs to the UK are £570. This includes all DEFRA paperwork and transport by DEFRA registered carrier ( using the TRACES system) direct to your door, except London, within the M25 motorway, Highlands of Scotland beyond Perth, and all off islands (if we cannot deliver direct, a mutually convenient meeting place will be arranged). We sort out all the arrangements and delivery/ meeting times will be advised in advance by the transporter.

For dogs brought to the UK by SSDUK to go initially into foster care, adopters will still be required to pay the full adoption fee of £570 to cover the above expenses.

In some cases, for example a failed adoption of a dog already in the UK, the fee may be reduced to £320 where the initial transport costs from Spain have already been met. This is to cover transport within the UK, kennel fees and any checks required.
