Amelie

Amelie, a lovely girl who is great with people and adores cuddles. Sadly, she spends 23 hours a day alone in a tiny cage and doesn’t receive as much human attention as she needs due to the lack of volunteers. During her daily break in the patio, she goes out with lots of other dogs, becoming more and more playful. She loves to play wrestle with her best friend, Idefix.

Amelie is so happy when she is chosen to go out on walks. She walks well on the lead and is not bothered by cars, people, or other passing dogs. If she gets a chance, she loves to roll in the grass.

Let’s find her a home where she can receive the love and attention she deserves.

November 2024: Update on Amelie in Foster Care
Amelie has been in foster care for nine days now after the pound was flooded, and her foster family is absolutely in love with her! Here’s what they had to say about this wonderful girl:
Amelie is doing amazing! She’s perfectly behaved in the house—completely house-trained with no issues, even when left alone. She doesn’t jump on the sofa and sleeps soundly in her bed all night.
On walks, she’s a dream, walking right by her foster’s side. Occasionally, she gets a little stubborn about the route she wants to take, but that’s part of her charm. She loves going to the local dog park and gets excited every time they head in that direction. Amelie is incredibly gentle with other dogs and hasn’t caused any problems or anxiety at all.
With strangers, she’s a bit shy and hesitant about being touched, but she handles it beautifully without any signs of aggression. She’s also perfectly fine in the car now—though she was a little hesitant when leaving the shelter for the first time.
Her foster family shared how patient and sweet she’s been as she settles in. Initially, she wouldn’t let them clean her eye, but after just a few days, she began trusting them, and now she even lets it happen without fuss—earning herself a treat afterward, of course!
Amelie, or “Amie” as they’ve been affectionately calling her, is thriving in her foster home. Her family adores her, and it’s clear she’s soaking up all the love and care she deserves.
We are overjoyed to see Amelie so happy and well-adjusted. She’s truly a special girl, and we can’t wait for her forever family to find her.
Way to go, sweet Amie! 💕

Amelie is available for adoption in the UK.  Homecheck and adoption fee apply. Adoption fee includes neutering, passport, microchip, all vaccinations, blood tests to screen for diseases, worm and flea treatment. Adoption cost in Spain (if no transport required) 155€ for males and €165 for females.

Adoption costs to the UK are £570. This includes all DEFRA paperwork and transport by DEFRA registered carrier ( using the TRACES system) direct to your door, except London, within the M25 motorway, Highlands of Scotland beyond Perth, and all off islands (if we cannot deliver direct, a mutually convenient meeting place will be arranged). We sort out all the arrangements and delivery/ meeting times will be advised in advance by the transporter.

For dogs brought to the UK by SSDUK to go initially into foster care, adopters will still be required to pay the full adoption fee of £570 to cover the above expenses.

In some cases, for example a failed adoption of a dog already in the UK, the fee may be reduced to £320 where the initial transport costs from Spain have already been met. This is to cover transport within the UK, kennel fees and any checks required.
