Amelie

Amelie, a lovely girl who is great with people and adores cuddles. Sadly, she spends 23 hours a day alone in a tiny cage and doesn’t receive as much human attention as she needs due to the lack of volunteers. During her daily break in the patio, she goes out with lots of other dogs, becoming more and more playful. She loves to play wrestle with her best friend, Idefix.

Amelie is so happy when she is chosen to go out on walks. She walks well on the lead and is not bothered by cars, people, or other passing dogs. If she gets a chance, she loves to roll in the grass.

Let’s find her a home where she can receive the love and attention she deserves.

November 2024: Update on Amelie in Foster Care
The Perfect Companion Looking for Her Forever Home!
Amelie’s journey has been one of resilience and love. After the pound was flooded in November 2024, this sweet 5-year-old girl moved into foster care—and she’s been winning hearts ever since! Described as perfect by her foster families, Amelie is the ideal mix of gentle, intelligent, and well-mannered.
She is fully house-trained, sleeps soundly in her own bed all night, and doesn’t jump on furniture. She is calm and well-behaved, even when left alone, making her an easy companion at home. On walks, she stays close by your side, though she has a charming stubborn streak when it comes to choosing routes. She enjoys trips to the dog park and interacts beautifully with other dogs, always gentle and well-mannered. With new people, she can be a little shy at first, but she is patient, trusting, and never shows aggression.
Amelie is also great in the car—though hesitant at first, she now travels like a pro. Her intelligence and adaptability shine through, as she quickly learns routines and responds well to encouragement. Her foster family has even noted how patient she was when they needed to clean her eye, showing her gentle and trusting nature.
After nearly three months in her first foster home, Amelie moved to a new foster family at the end of January, where she has now been for a month. She has settled in beautifully, and they absolutely adore her. She has also proven to be fantastic with cats and is currently living with one in her second foster home, where she has been respectful and gentle. However, this foster placement is also temporary, meaning Amelie still needs a forever home before time runs out.
Amelie is adaptable and would thrive in almost any home, whether with a single person, a couple, or a family with children and other pets. She is a calm, loving dog who is ready to give her heart to the right family.
She has overcome so much and deserves a stable, forever home where she can finally settle for good. If you think you could be the one to change Amelie’s life forever, please reach out. Let’s make sure this perfect girl never has to see the inside of a pound again.

Update April 2025

Amelie moved to another foster home end of January and she is thriving in her new foster home, where she’s showing just how special she truly is! She is great with all living beings she meets, including the family’s cat, and has become more social and affectionate each day. Her foster family says she’s incredibly intelligent and has won their hearts over more and more.

“Amelie is doing great, she’s come so far! She’s becoming much more sociable and loving. Honestly, she’s such a unique dog—super intelligent, and every day she steals more of our hearts. We’re worried because she’s becoming so attached to us; she sleeps with us and is always so happy to see us. We’re concerned about the day when she can no longer stay in foster care with us. We really want to find the perfect family for her—someone who will love her as much as we do, or even more. Amelie is one of a kind and truly needs her forever family. ❤️”

Amelie is available for adoption in the UK.  Homecheck and adoption fee apply. Adoption fee includes neutering, passport, microchip, all vaccinations, blood tests to screen for diseases, worm and flea treatment. Adoption cost in Spain (if no transport required) 155€ for males and €165 for females.

Adoption costs to the UK are £570. This includes all DEFRA paperwork and transport by DEFRA registered carrier ( using the TRACES system) direct to your door, except London, within the M25 motorway, Highlands of Scotland beyond Perth, and all off islands (if we cannot deliver direct, a mutually convenient meeting place will be arranged). We sort out all the arrangements and delivery/ meeting times will be advised in advance by the transporter.

For dogs brought to the UK by SSDUK to go initially into foster care, adopters will still be required to pay the full adoption fee of £570 to cover the above expenses.

In some cases, for example a failed adoption of a dog already in the UK, the fee may be reduced to £320 where the initial transport costs from Spain have already been met. This is to cover transport within the UK, kennel fees and any checks required.
