Angel – Waiting Too Long for His Forever Home
Angel arrived at the pound almost two years ago, when he was about 3,5 years old. It looked like he hadn’t had the easiest start in life, but despite that, Angel settled in well and quickly showed his true nature. He is a sweet, gentle soul who loves people, enjoys cuddles, and gets along with other dogs. He used to share a cage with furry friends and also spent time in the patio with dogs from other cages. On walks, Angel is a pleasure – he may pull a little at the beginning, but soon relaxes and walks calmly, curious about cars and other dogs passing by, as if hoping to spot someone he knows.
Sadly, things have changed for Angel. All of his cage mates have found homes, and now he is left all alone in a small enclosed cage. From there, he cannot even look outside. Angel spends more than 23 hours a day locked up, with only very rare walks due to the lack of volunteers. He has been waiting far too long, and it breaks our hearts to see such a wonderful dog spending his days in loneliness.
Angel deserves so much more than this. He is loving, loyal, and ready to give his whole heart to a family who will finally give him the home he has been dreaming of. Please – it is Angel’s turn to leave the pound for good. If you cannot adopt, even taking him for a walk would mean the world to him. But most of all, Angel needs a chance to live the life he deserves – loved, free, and part of a family.
Update December 2025
Angel recently went on a little trip to the local town to see how he would cope in a different environment after spending more than two years at the Pound. Life in a small cage has been incredibly hard for him, and he is very stressed there, struggling more as time goes by.
But outside the Pound, Angel showed us a completely different side of himself. He travelled calmly in the car, and although he pulled on the lead at the beginning—simply excited to finally leave the Pound area—he quickly settled. Walking through the town, he was absolutely amazing.
He wasn’t bothered at all by the traffic, people passing by, children on scooters, elderly people with wheelchairs, people playing basketball, or other dogs. He handled everything with ease, simply happy to experience new smells, new sights, and a bit of freedom.
The most heartbreaking moment was returning to the Pound. Angel didn’t want to get out of the car. It was clear he did not want to go back inside the cage where he is not coping well. He is a lovely dog who is struggling deeply in the Pound environment, and he truly deserves a calm, loving home where he can finally feel safe and begin to enjoy life again.
Please consider adopting Angel – he has been waiting too long.
Angel is available for adoption in the UK. Homecheck and adoption fee apply. Adoption fee includes neutering, passport, microchip, all vaccinations, blood tests to screen for diseases, worm and flea treatment. Adoption cost in Spain (if no transport required) 155€ for males and €165 for females.
Adoption costs to the UK are £570. This includes all DEFRA paperwork and transport by DEFRA registered carrier ( using the TRACES system) direct to your door, except London, within the M25 motorway, Highlands of Scotland beyond Perth, and all off islands (if we cannot deliver direct, a mutually convenient meeting place will be arranged). We sort out all the arrangements and delivery/ meeting times will be advised in advance by the transporter.
For dogs brought to the UK by SSDUK to go initially into foster care, adopters will still be required to pay the full adoption fee of £570 to cover the above expenses.
In some cases, for example a failed adoption of a dog already in the UK, the fee may be reduced to £320 where the initial transport costs from Spain have already been met. This is to cover transport within the UK, kennel fees and any checks required.
