Indira – Looking for her forever home ❤️

Indira arrived at Los Barrios pound in December 2023, when she was around 6.5 years old. This gorgeous Shar Pei cross was found wandering the streets and brought to the pound. We know she had a home in the past, but sadly, she wasn’t properly cared for and was often found alone on the streets. She even became pregnant, but her puppies disappeared.

At the pound, Indira showed herself to be a lovely, calm dog who enjoys human company. She loves going for walks and walks very well on the lead.

In March 2024, Indira was lucky enough to spend some days in foster care because of the risk of flooding at the pound. Her foster family had nothing but lovely things to say about her!

They described her as a sweet, fun-loving girl who loves to play, cuddle and give kisses. She got along well with all the dogs in their group, including small Chihuahuas, when out walking on the lead. She also showed that she has some good manners: she understands that human food isn’t hers, travels well in the car and enjoys watching the world go by. At home, she was relaxed and calm, even when people and dogs passed close to their camper. And there’s one more thing you should know about Indira: she snores! 😂❤️

Sadly, after those few days in foster care, Indira had to return to the pound, where she was back to living in a small cage for most of the day. Despite her lovely nature, life in the pound was difficult for her, and she was once again waiting for someone to give her a chance.

In July 2024, Indira was lucky enough to return to the same foster home, where she has been living ever since. She is doing really well in this familiar, loving environment, sharing her foster home with several other dogs, both big and small. She has the company of other dogs and the comfort of a home while she waits for her own family.

But there is something important we want people to understand: Indira is still looking for her forever home. Her foster family has given her a safe place to stay for more than two years, but this is a foster home, not a permanent adoption. Despite all this time, nobody has shown interest in offering her a home of her own.

Indira deserves a family who will choose her, love her and give her a permanent place in their lives. She has so much to offer and has already shown what a lovely companion she can be in a home environment.

Indira is available for adoption in the UK.  Homecheck and adoption fee apply. Adoption fee includes neutering, passport, microchip, all vaccinations, blood tests to screen for diseases, worm and flea treatment. Adoption cost in Spain (if no transport required) 155€ for males and €165 for females.

Adoption costs to the UK are £595. This includes all DEFRA paperwork and transport by DEFRA registered carrier ( using the TRACES system) direct to your door, except London, within the M25 motorway, Highlands of Scotland beyond Perth, and all off islands (if we cannot deliver direct, a mutually convenient meeting place will be arranged). We sort out all the arrangements and delivery/ meeting times will be advised in advance by the transporter.

For dogs brought to the UK by SSDUK to go initially into foster care, adopters will still be required to pay the full adoption fee of £595 to cover the above expenses.

In some cases, for example a failed adoption of a dog already in the UK, the fee may be reduced to £350 where the initial transport costs from Spain have already been met. This is to cover transport within the UK, kennel fees and any checks required.
