Firulais
Firulais is a stunning and active young dog with plenty of energy and endless love to give. He adores people and is social with other dogs. Right now, he shares a cage with a female and a male dog, but spending more than 23 hours a day in such a small space is causing them all significant stress.
Firulais is great on the lead, walking calmly and confidently by your side. He doesn’t seem bothered by people, cars, other dogs, or even horses passing by. He’s always happy to stop for cuddles and treats, showing his sweet and affectionate nature. He truly is a really good boy!
This amazing dog needs a home where he can enjoy the exercise and mental stimulation he deserves. Unfortunately, like so many dogs at the pound, he risks growing up without the life he truly needs if he stays here too long.
Please consider adopting Firulais and giving him the happy, fulfilling life he deserves. He’s ready to become someone’s loyal companion and lifelong friend!
Update March 2025:
Firulais – Thriving in Foster Care!
Ricotta and Firulais went into foster care together a couple of weeks ago after the pound was at risk of flooding. They are proving to be wonderful dogs. They have had no accidents during the day, as they have constant access to the outdoors. Overnight, there have been a couple of minor accidents, but they are trying their best and learning quickly. Both are smart and picking up new things fast!
When walked together, they can be strong and pull at first, but with separate training, they are improving significantly. Ricotta settles into her walk more quickly, while Firulais is more curious and loves to explore everything. Neither barks at night or joins in when the other dogs bark, showing they are calm and well-mannered.
Firulais is like a 12-week-old puppy in a young dog’s body! He is energetic and playful, making him best suited for a home with teenagers or an active household, as he can be a bit mouthy. However, he is learning quickly that not everything needs to go in his mouth! He gets very excited and would love to have a canine buddy in his new home. He mixes well with all dogs, loves playing football, and enjoys tug-of-war. Like Ricotta, he is great around farm animals but may try to chase if the horses start running. His training is going well, and he would benefit from continued basic training in his future home.
Both Ricotta and Firulais are extremely well-behaved while traveling in the car, making them great companions for adventures! These two are fun, smart, and affectionate dogs who are making great progress in foster care. They are looking for loving homes that can continue their training and provide plenty of love and playtime!
After 3 weeks in foster, Firulais is returning to the pound – again he is behind bars…
Firulais is available for adoption in the UK. Homecheck and adoption fee apply. Adoption fee includes neutering, passport, microchip, all vaccinations, blood tests to screen for diseases, worm and flea treatment. Adoption cost in Spain (if no transport required) 155€ for males and €165 for females.
Adoption costs to the UK are £570. This includes all DEFRA paperwork and transport by DEFRA registered carrier ( using the TRACES system) direct to your door, except London, within the M25 motorway, Highlands of Scotland beyond Perth, and all off islands (if we cannot deliver direct, a mutually convenient meeting place will be arranged). We sort out all the arrangements and delivery/ meeting times will be advised in advance by the transporter.
For dogs brought to the UK by SSDUK to go initially into foster care, adopters will still be required to pay the full adoption fee of £570 to cover the above expenses.
In some cases, for example a failed adoption of a dog already in the UK, the fee may be reduced to £320 where the initial transport costs from Spain have already been met. This is to cover transport within the UK, kennel fees and any checks required.
