Yogurin – Over Two Years Behind Bars, Waiting for His Chance
Yogurin has now been waiting for more than two years at the pound – he has spent more of his life locked in a cage than not. Life behind bars is taking its toll on this sweet, young dog who deserves so much more than endless days in confinement.
When Yogurin first arrived at the pound in July 2023 with Cai, who we believe is his brother, he adjusted surprisingly well to the difficult conditions. Over time, all the dogs he once shared his space with have been adopted one by one, leaving Yogurin alone in his cage. Sadly, this isolation is making him increasingly stressed.
We have tried introducing him to a few new dogs inside the pound, but Yogurin finds it very difficult to cope with sharing such a small, confined space. Outside the pound, however, he is perfectly happy around other dogs. On his walks and outings, he enjoys the company of his friends, playing energetically, running freely, and showing just how social and joyful he can be. As a big, boisterous dog, he loves to romp and play – the happier he is, the more his lively, affectionate personality shines through.
One of the highlights of Yogurin’s life now is going out on walks a few times a week, especially with Chauen, another young male dog. Together, they splash in the river, run through fields, and play like the happy dogs they were always meant to be. These moments show that Yogurin thrives when he has space to move and relax, away from the stressful confines of the pound.
October 2025 Update:
Recently, one of our volunteers took Yogurin on a special little adventure outside the pound. They explored the town, enjoyed some time at the beach, and even visited the pet shop Tienda Animal. Yogurin was fantastic throughout the outing, demonstrating his calm, friendly nature and excitement for new experiences. It’s clear that he is more than ready to leave the pound behind and find a loving home where he can enjoy this kind of freedom every day.
Despite his hardships, Yogurin’s loving nature shines through. He is affectionate, enjoys cuddles, and has a playful spirit that is just waiting to blossom in a real home. He walks well on a lead, loves exploring the world, and will thrive in a home where he can receive regular exercise, attention, and love.
Yogurin has waited far too long. He deserves a family who will finally show him what life outside the bars feels like – a life where he can run, play, and know that he belongs.
If you are looking for a young, loving dog full of potential, come meet Yogurin. Take him for a walk, see his bright spirit come alive, and maybe, just maybe, give him the second chance he has been waiting for all his life.
This gorgeous dog is available for adoption in the UK. Homecheck and adoption fee apply. Adoption fee includes neutering, passport, microchip, all vaccinations, blood tests to screen for diseases, worm and flea treatment. Adoption cost in Spain (if no transport required) 155€ for males and €165 for females.
Adoption costs to the UK are £570. This includes all DEFRA paperwork and transport by DEFRA registered carrier ( using the TRACES system) direct to your door, except London, within the M25 motorway, Highlands of Scotland beyond Perth, and all off islands (if we cannot deliver direct, a mutually convenient meeting place will be arranged). We sort out all the arrangements and delivery/ meeting times will be advised in advance by the transporter.
For dogs brought to the UK by SSDUK to go initially into foster care, adopters will still be required to pay the full adoption fee of £570 to cover the above expenses.
In some cases, for example a failed adoption of a dog already in the UK, the fee may be reduced to £320 where the initial transport costs from Spain have already been met. This is to cover transport within the UK, kennel fees and any checks required.
