Principe – Abandoned by the family who once gave him a home
Principe arrived at the pound in October 2026, aged around three years old. Sadly, this is not his first time here. He first arrived in November 2023, when he was just a tiny puppy of around four months old, and was adopted by a family who we hoped would give him a loving home for life.
But now, almost three years later, Principe has found himself back where his story began. His family brought him back to the pound, reportedly because they were separating. Whatever the circumstances, Principe is the one who has been left behind, facing life in a cage all over again.
Principe has been living with a young child, and he seems to be a very sociable dog. He has already been introduced to other dogs at the pound, and so far, he appears to be getting along well with them.
It is heartbreaking to see a dog who was welcomed into a home as a puppy end up abandoned by that same family years later. Principe deserved more than to lose his home and the people he knew.
Now, Principe needs another chance, but this time, we hope it will be a truly lifelong one. He deserves a responsible home where he will be loved, valued and cared for throughout his life, whatever changes life may bring.
This gorgeous dog is available for adoption in the UK. Homecheck and adoption fee apply. Adoption fee includes neutering, passport, microchip, all vaccinations, blood tests to screen for diseases, worm and flea treatment. Adoption cost in Spain (if no transport required) 155€ for males and €165 for females.
Adoption costs to the UK are £595. This includes all DEFRA paperwork and transport by DEFRA registered carrier ( using the TRACES system) direct to your door, except London, within the M25 motorway, Highlands of Scotland beyond Perth, and all off islands (if we cannot deliver direct, a mutually convenient meeting place will be arranged). We sort out all the arrangements and delivery/ meeting times will be advised in advance by the transporter.
For dogs brought to the UK by SSDUK to go initially into foster care, adopters will still be required to pay the full adoption fee of £595 to cover the above expenses.
In some cases, for example a failed adoption of a dog already in the UK, the fee may be reduced to £350 where the initial transport costs from Spain have already been met. This is to cover transport within the UK, kennel fees and any checks required.
