Golfo – A Wonderful Boy Deserving a Second Chance

Golfo arrived at the pound in April 2026 together with Lola, a 15-year-old female. Their story is a heartbreaking one, as they had both been part of a home and now find themselves waiting for a new chance.

Golfo was originally adopted from the pound during the devastating floods in December 2016. For many years, he knew the comfort and security of having a home and a person of his own. Sadly, after the death of his adopter, Golfo’s situation changed completely. Without the person who had cared for him for so long, he ended up living in poor conditions and was eventually brought to the pound together with Lola.

After almost a decade of being part of a family, this wonderful boy is now facing life in a cage again. He spends more than 23 hours a day in a small space, without the comfort of a soft bed, a quiet corner, or the simple things that every dog deserves.

Despite everything he has been through, Golfo remains an absolutely amazing dog. He is loving, sweet, and affectionate, and he adores people. He loves cuddles and attention and simply enjoys being close to someone.

Golfo is also a pleasure to walk. He is good with people and other dogs, and he is comfortable around cars. He enjoys peaceful walks and happily takes time to receive affection and cuddles along the way. He is good with other dogs, both males and females.

Golfo is not suitable for a home with cats.

It is heartbreaking to see a dog who once knew the comfort of a home now waiting behind bars, especially after so many years of loyalty and companionship. Golfo deserves so much more than this.

He deserves a soft and comfortable bed, peaceful walks, plenty of affection, and a responsible family who will cherish him for the rest of his life. After everything he has lost, we hope that someone will see the wonderful dog behind his sad story and give him the second chance he truly deserves.

Golfo still has so much love to give. All he needs now is someone who will open their heart and show him that he has not been forgotten.

Update September 2026
Lola and Golfo were lucky to attend a big event at the land where we hope to build our future shelter. They had their own dedicated volunteer looking after them during the day.

The event was busy, with lots of people, dogs, music and activity, but both Lola and Golfo were very calm and relaxed throughout the day. They love receiving affection and attention and were happy to enjoy plenty of cuddles. 🥰

They also went for walks together and walked very well on the leash. They are both adorable dogs who enjoyed the experience and all the attention they received.

Sadly, nobody fell in love with either Lola or Golfo that day, so they both had to return to the pound after the event. They are now waiting there for the people who will give them the loving forever homes they deserve.

This gorgeous dog is available for adoption in the UK. Homecheck and adoption fee apply. Adoption fee includes neutering, passport, microchip, all vaccinations, blood tests to screen for diseases, worm and flea treatment. Adoption cost in Spain (if no transport required) 155€ for males and €165 for females.

Adoption costs to the UK are £595. This includes all DEFRA paperwork and transport by DEFRA registered carrier ( using the TRACES system) direct to your door, except London, within the M25 motorway, Highlands of Scotland beyond Perth, and all off islands (if we cannot deliver direct, a mutually convenient meeting place will be arranged). We sort out all the arrangements and delivery/ meeting times will be advised in advance by the transporter.

For dogs brought to the UK by SSDUK to go initially into foster care, adopters will still be required to pay the full adoption fee of £595 to cover the above expenses.

In some cases, for example a failed adoption of a dog already in the UK, the fee may be reduced to £350 where the initial transport costs from Spain have already been met. This is to cover transport within the UK, kennel fees and any checks required.
