Nai – A Sweet Senior Gentleman Looking for a Loving Home

Nai arrived at the pound in June 2026, at approximately 9 years old. He was found wandering on the streets with a microchip, but despite efforts to locate his owner, no one came forward. His chip was liberated in August 2026, and Nai can now start looking for the loving home he deserves.

Nai is a sweet, gentle elderly gentleman who really enjoys being around people. He has also integrated very well with the other dogs at the pound, showing that he is a lovely and sociable dog. After everything he has been through, he would love nothing more than to have a quiet, caring home where he can feel safe, comfortable and loved again.

At the end of August, Nai was chosen to take part in a group walk through Tarifa with lots of other dogs from the pound. The walk was organised to raise awareness about our pound and the many wonderful dogs waiting for homes. Nai did absolutely amazingly. He coped so well with all the other dogs, busy streets, people and traffic, and he was even happy to receive cuddles from children along the way. He took the whole experience in his stride and was a real star. ⭐❤️

In September, Nai was chosen to join another big event, this time at the new land where we hope to build our future shelter. He went along with his furry friend Olaf, and the two boys shared a pen during the day. Despite the busy surroundings, Nai and Olaf both did amazingly well. There were lots of people and children, music and plenty going on around them, but Nai handled it all beautifully.

Nai was especially lucky that day, as someone fell in love with him and decided to give him a chance. He went home with the family in foster with a view to adoption, giving him the opportunity to experience life in a home.

Unfortunately, the adoption was not able to go ahead, but the family gave us some valuable information about Nai during his time with them. They told us that he was house trained and that he was also good with cats. It was lovely to learn more about him and to know that he was able to settle into a home environment.

At his age, Nai should not have to spend his days in a cage at the pound. He deserves a peaceful life with someone who will appreciate his gentle nature and give him the time, patience and companionship he needs.

Nai is now looking for his forever home. He truly is a wonderful senior dog who deserves to spend his later years surrounded by love, comfort and care. ❤️

This gorgeous dog is available for adoption in the UK. Homecheck and adoption fee apply. Adoption fee includes neutering, passport, microchip, all vaccinations, blood tests to screen for diseases, worm and flea treatment. Adoption cost in Spain (if no transport required) 155€ for males and €165 for females.

Adoption costs to the UK are £595. This includes all DEFRA paperwork and transport by DEFRA registered carrier ( using the TRACES system) direct to your door, except London, within the M25 motorway, Highlands of Scotland beyond Perth, and all off islands (if we cannot deliver direct, a mutually convenient meeting place will be arranged). We sort out all the arrangements and delivery/ meeting times will be advised in advance by the transporter.

For dogs brought to the UK by SSDUK to go initially into foster care, adopters will still be required to pay the full adoption fee of £595 to cover the above expenses.

In some cases, for example a failed adoption of a dog already in the UK, the fee may be reduced to £350 where the initial transport costs from Spain have already been met. This is to cover transport within the UK, kennel fees and any checks required.
