Yogurin – Nearly Three Years Behind Bars, Still Waiting for His Chance
Yogurin arrived at the pound in July 2023, around 8 months old at the time. He is a beautiful Malinois cross who was found, likely abandoned on the streets, and brought to the pound.
Yogurin has now been waiting for almost three years. He has spent more of his young life inside a cage than outside of it, and life behind bars is starting to take its toll on this sweet boy who deserves so much more than endless confinement.
When Yogurin first arrived at the pound, he came in with Cai, who we believe is his brother. Cai has since been lucky enough to be adopted. Yogurin has shared his cage with different dogs over time, but all the dogs he once shared his space with have gradually been adopted one by one, leaving him alone. Sadly, this ongoing isolation is making him increasingly stressed inside the pound environment.
We have tried introducing him to a few new dogs inside the pound, but Yogurin finds it difficult in such a small, confined space. Outside the pound, however, the story is completely different. On his walks and outings, he is perfectly happy around other dogs. He enjoys their company, plays with enthusiasm, runs freely, and shows just how social and joyful he can be. As a big, energetic boy, he loves to romp and play, and the more relaxed he is, the more his affectionate, playful personality shines through.
The only highlight in Yogurin’s life is going out on walks a few times a week, especially with Chauen, another young male dog. One of our very dedicated volunteers always takes Yogurin and Chauen out together when she is at the pound. She takes them on trips in the car, and they travel really well together, enjoying the change of scenery and the freedom to explore. These moments in the car, the walks, and their time outside together mean everything to him.
October 2025:
One of our volunteers took Yogurin on a special adventure outside the pound. He explored the town, spent time at the beach, and even visited the pet shop Tienda Animal. He was fantastic throughout the outing, showing his calm, friendly nature and his excitement for new experiences. This adventure proved once again that he is more than ready to leave the pound behind and enjoy a real home life.
In May 2026, Yogurin was lucky enough to enjoy a little adventure into the local town together with his friend Chauen. Overall, Yogurin did wonderfully and showed himself to be a sweet, gentle, and adaptable boy.
He travelled very well in the car and quickly decided that the back seat was the best place to be, happily relaxing there during the journey and soaking up the cuddles from the volunteer along the way.
Once in town, Yogurin walked beautifully through the streets on a quiet Sunday and coped very well with everything around him — passing dogs, people, children, traffic, and all the new smells and sights of town life. He especially enjoyed stopping on the grass for cuddles and a quiet moment to relax.
The only moment where he became slightly nervous was when a large lorry stopped nearby to empty the big rubbish bins on the street, creating a lot of sudden noise. Even then, Yogurin recovered quickly and continued walking nicely afterwards.
He remained calm, affectionate, and engaged throughout the trip and was happy to jump back into the car afterwards. Overall, Yogurin did incredibly well and showed that he has all the potential to adapt beautifully to life outside the perrera with a loving family.
Despite everything he has endured, Yogurin’s loving nature continues to shine through. He is affectionate, enjoys cuddles, and has a playful spirit that is just waiting for the right environment to fully blossom. He walks well on the lead, loves exploring, and will thrive in a home where he receives regular exercise, attention, and love.
Yogurin has waited far too long. He deserves a family who will finally show him what life outside the bars feels like — a life where he can run, play, and truly belong.
If you are looking for a young, loving dog full of potential, come meet Yogurin. Take him for a walk, see his bright spirit come alive, and maybe give him the second chance he has been waiting for all his life.
