Curro – A Timid Young Dog in Need of a Calm, Understanding Home…
Curro is around one and a half years old and arrived at the pound in January 2026. He arrived very scared of people and, although he is still a timid dog, he is making small steps forward. He is not so scared that he won’t approach for a treat, and he allows a gentle stroke under the chin, showing his desire to connect and build trust.
At the pound, Curro is doing well with dogs bigger than himself. We believe he would benefit from living with a friendly, calm, medium-to-large sized dog who could help guide him and build his confidence.
Curro will need an experienced and calm home that understands shy dogs and is willing to give him the time, space, and reassurance he needs to blossom. We would not place him in a home with cats, small dogs, or children under 10 years old.
With the right environment and gentle guidance, Curro has the potential to grow into a more confident and secure companion.
UPDATE – January 2026
Curro went into foster care due to heavy rain and the risk of flooding at the pound. According to his foster:
Curro is doing very well. He is a very happy, sweet, and playful young dog who loves cuddles and attention. He settles in quite quickly and is already starting to trust his carers, which is lovely to see.
It is also clear that Curro is still very young and has not yet been house trained or learned basic commands, so he will need guidance, patience, and consistent training in a home environment.
Curro enjoys a lot of attention, and while he is a wonderful dog, this level of attention is difficult for the foster family to provide right now alongside their other dog and work commitments.
This foster stay has shown that Curro is a loving, affectionate youngster with great potential who would thrive in a home ready to invest time, training, and affection.
This gorgeous dog is available for adoption in the UK. Homecheck and adoption fee apply. Adoption fee includes neutering, passport, microchip, all vaccinations, blood tests to screen for diseases, worm and flea treatment. Adoption cost in Spain (if no transport required) 155€ for males and €165 for females.
Adoption costs to the UK are £570. This includes all DEFRA paperwork and transport by DEFRA registered carrier ( using the TRACES system) direct to your door, except London, within the M25 motorway, Highlands of Scotland beyond Perth, and all off islands (if we cannot deliver direct, a mutually convenient meeting place will be arranged). We sort out all the arrangements and delivery/ meeting times will be advised in advance by the transporter.
For dogs brought to the UK by SSDUK to go initially into foster care, adopters will still be required to pay the full adoption fee of £570 to cover the above expenses.
In some cases, for example a failed adoption of a dog already in the UK, the fee may be reduced to £320 where the initial transport costs from Spain have already been met. This is to cover transport within the UK, kennel fees and any checks required.
