Azai – A Gentle Old Boy Who Deserves Comfort and Love 💛

Azai arrived at the pound in April 2026 and was estimated to be around 10 years old at the time. He arrived in absolutely heartbreaking condition. He was unable to get up and could only lie there, exhausted and helpless. 💔

He immediately began treatment and, little by little, started to regain his strength. Day by day, this beautiful boy fought his way back. Today, he can stand again, walk again, and happily zoom around with surprising energy and enthusiasm. In fact, once you see him enjoying life again, it is hard to believe this is the same dog who arrived unable to get up. ✨

Despite everything he has been through, Azai has shown himself to be a truly gentle and lovely soul. He gets along beautifully with the other dogs he has met so far and even seems to be perfectly fine around cats — something quite special and rare to find. 🐶🐱

In May, Azai attended our big adoption event, and he did incredibly well. Surrounded by people, music, food, and children running around, he calmly trotted around among all the visitors, taking everything completely in his stride. He simply loved being part of the day and spending time around people. ❤️

Azai was lucky enough to move into a foster home, finally escaping the tiny cage he had been living in at the pound. Unfortunately, the foster placement can only be very temporary, and he urgently needs another foster home — or, even better, a forever home. 🏡

His foster describes him as an absolutely lovely and easy dog to have in the home. He is cuddly, housetrained, quiet, and incredibly well behaved. He doesn’t mind occasionally being left alone for short periods and has been very respectful around the other dogs in the home. He waits patiently for his turn at mealtimes and walks beautifully on the lead. 💕

After everything Azai has been through, he truly deserves a loving home where he can finally feel safe, cared for, and never neglected again.

Whoever gives this special boy a chance will gain the sweetest, most grateful companion imaginable. 💛

This gorgeous dog is available for adoption in the UK. Homecheck and adoption fee apply. Adoption fee includes neutering, passport, microchip, all vaccinations, blood tests to screen for diseases, worm and flea treatment. Adoption cost in Spain (if no transport required) 155€ for males and €165 for females.

Adoption costs to the UK are £595. This includes all DEFRA paperwork and transport by DEFRA registered carrier ( using the TRACES system) direct to your door, except London, within the M25 motorway, Highlands of Scotland beyond Perth, and all off islands (if we cannot deliver direct, a mutually convenient meeting place will be arranged). We sort out all the arrangements and delivery/ meeting times will be advised in advance by the transporter.

For dogs brought to the UK by SSDUK to go initially into foster care, adopters will still be required to pay the full adoption fee of £595 to cover the above expenses.

In some cases, for example a failed adoption of a dog already in the UK, the fee may be reduced to £350 where the initial transport costs from Spain have already been met. This is to cover transport within the UK, kennel fees and any checks required.
