Scobby – a playful and loving boy 🐾
Scobby arrived at the pound in August 2025, estimated to be around 3 years old at the time. Before being caught, he had been roaming the area for a few months, surviving on his own. He was very fearful and difficult to catch, likely fending for himself during that time. Poor boy had clearly been through a lot before finally reaching safety.
From the very beginning at the pound, Scobby has shown what a gentle, friendly, and loving character he has. He quickly settled in with other dogs and gets along beautifully with them.
He is playful, sweet, and very affectionate with people. Scobby truly enjoys human company and is always happy to receive attention, cuddles, and kind words.
Scobby also loves going out on walks. He is absolutely amazing on the lead – he does not pull and walks calmly and easily. He is not bothered by cars, people, or other dogs passing by. Walks with him are genuinely a pleasure. He will happily stop for a treat or spend time searching through the grass with his nose, which he clearly loves to use.
Unfortunately, these walks are rare due to the lack of volunteers. Most days, Scobby spends over 23 and a half hours inside a kennel, only getting a very short daily break in a small cement patio with no enrichment.
Despite this, Scobby remains such a positive and loving soul.
In April 2026, Scobby attended our adoption event, and he did very well. He stayed very calm throughout the day and clearly enjoyed having a dedicated volunteer by his side who looked after him. He also loved all the visitors coming in to greet him and was very friendly and relaxed with everyone.
Some visitors even took him out for short walks around the event area, and he handled this really well, taking everything in his stride. The event was big and busy, with lots of people, music, food, and children running around playing, and Scobby coped beautifully with all the activity around him.
The only part he found difficult was going in the car, which did spook him, but otherwise he did very well overall.
Right now, the pound is overcrowded with many dogs like Scobby, and it is incredibly difficult for them to find homes. But Scobby truly deserves a chance to leave all of this behind and finally have a family of his own.
He has so much love to give and would make a loyal, easy-going, and joyful companion.
Update June 2026:
One day in June, Scobby, Donovan, Amón, Dalí and Avellana were chosen for a very special outing.
Thanks to the project “Visitas que dejan huella”, sponsored by APBA, they visited a residence in Los Barrios. It was a beautiful morning filled with calm moments, smiles and connection. The dogs brought comfort and joy to the residents, many of whom spend long hours alone. A simple presence, a cuddle, or a gentle interaction made a real difference.
And the most special part: the dogs enjoyed it just as much. They received affection, attention, and the feeling of being truly valued.
We are so proud of them — all of them did amazingly well — and we hope that Avellana, Donovan, Scobby, Amón and Dalí will very soon find the loving homes they deserve.
This gorgeous dog is available for adoption in the UK. Homecheck and adoption fee apply. Adoption fee includes neutering, passport, microchip, all vaccinations, blood tests to screen for diseases, worm and flea treatment. Adoption cost in Spain (if no transport required) 155€ for males and €165 for females.
Adoption costs to the UK are £595. This includes all DEFRA paperwork and transport by DEFRA registered carrier ( using the TRACES system) direct to your door, except London, within the M25 motorway, Highlands of Scotland beyond Perth, and all off islands (if we cannot deliver direct, a mutually convenient meeting place will be arranged). We sort out all the arrangements and delivery/ meeting times will be advised in advance by the transporter.
For dogs brought to the UK by SSDUK to go initially into foster care, adopters will still be required to pay the full adoption fee of £595 to cover the above expenses.
In some cases, for example a failed adoption of a dog already in the UK, the fee may be reduced to £350 where the initial transport costs from Spain have already been met. This is to cover transport within the UK, kennel fees and any checks required.
