Adonis

Adonis arrived at the pound in August 2026 and was estimated to be around seven and a half months old on arrival. He is still just a big puppy, with his whole life ahead of him.

It is difficult to understand how a young dog like Adonis has already found himself abandoned and living in a pound. At an age when he should be discovering the world, learning, playing and growing up surrounded by people who love him, he is instead spending his days in a small cage.

Adonis has integrated well with other dogs and enjoys the company of his canine friends. But what this young boy really needs is a home of his own — a place where he can feel safe, loved and part of a family.

He deserves so much more than life in a pound. He deserves the chance to grow into the wonderful adult dog he is meant to become, with people who will be patient with him, guide him, give him plenty of positive experiences and, most importantly, never abandon him again.

Update September 2026
Adonis was lucky to attend a big event at the land where we hope to build our future shelter. He went along with his friend Olimpo and had his own dedicated volunteer looking after him throughout the day so he could experience the event and have the chance to meet potential adopters.

Adonis did really well throughout the day. He was sweet, playful and enjoyed interacting with the people who came to see him. Despite the busy surroundings, with lots of people, children, dogs, music and activity going on around him, he was happy to be part of the day and enjoyed all the attention he received.

Sadly, nobody fell in love with Adonis that day, so he had to return to the pound after the event. He is still waiting there for the person who will give him the loving forever home he deserves.

Adonis is only at the very beginning of his life. We hope his time at the pound will be just a small chapter in his story, and that he will soon find a loving, responsible family who will give him the secure and happy future he deserves.

This gorgeous dog is available for adoption in the UK. Homecheck and adoption fee apply. Adoption fee includes neutering, passport, microchip, all vaccinations, blood tests to screen for diseases, worm and flea treatment. Adoption cost in Spain (if no transport required) 155€ for males and €165 for females.

Adoption costs to the UK are £595. This includes all DEFRA paperwork and transport by DEFRA registered carrier ( using the TRACES system) direct to your door, except London, within the M25 motorway, Highlands of Scotland beyond Perth, and all off islands (if we cannot deliver direct, a mutually convenient meeting place will be arranged). We sort out all the arrangements and delivery/ meeting times will be advised in advance by the transporter.

For dogs brought to the UK by SSDUK to go initially into foster care, adopters will still be required to pay the full adoption fee of £595 to cover the above expenses.

In some cases, for example a failed adoption of a dog already in the UK, the fee may be reduced to £350 where the initial transport costs from Spain have already been met. This is to cover transport within the UK, kennel fees and any checks required.
